New Year, New Faces in Victory Lane

Chase Osterhoff poses with track promotor Lance Spieker after his career Super Late Model win on April 15th.

(By Tyson Graves, Track Announcer)

Farmer City, IL (April 18, 2022) - The 2021 DIRTcar Racing Track of the Year finally got to kick off the 2022 race season this past Friday night. Mother Nature has dealt nothing but cold temps and rain and led the the cancellation of the first two weeks of racing on the schedule. It was a little chilly and mother nature put down a few sprinkles before the cars took the track but the first full night of racing is now in the books.

The new season produced some great racing that ended with many new faces in victory lane. We had many first time winners at Farmer City last Friday night. Nearly 100 cars signed in for the opening night of racing with drivers from three different states. Drivers and teams made the trek from Iowa and Indiana looking for their first race of the new season.

In Late Model action it was the youngster Chase Osterhoff picking up a career win. This winter Chase and team made the trek down to Florida to start off the year. After his win over Hall of Famer and defending track champion Kevin Weaver, the young driver said he learned so much and made all the difference. He said it was a unreal to be able to beat a driver like Kevin Weaver who I looked up to so much as a kid. Chase drove double duty on Friday night also fielding a Pro Late Model where he finished 3rd.

In Modified action it was last year's third place finisher in points Trevor Neville who broke through for his first win at Farmer City Raceway. Trevor was so close and ran up front all of last year and in victory lane he was excited to finally get it done. Allen Weisser came home runner up.

The Pro Late Model feature went to Timmy Dick. From the time Timmy unloaded to qualify he was the class off the field. He set fast time and won his heat race. That set him up on the front row for the feature and it was no looking back. Brandon Eskew drove to a second place finish.

The 2021 track champion Megan Erwin picked up where she left off in 2021. Megan got out front early in her heat race to pick up the win and used her front row starting spot to get out front. Surviving late race cautions she was able to hold on for the win. Megan also picked up a big win at Bristol Motor Speedway just a few weeks back, making her the first female to ever win on the historic half mile. Zane Reitz finished in the second spot and out of retirement Dave Crawley Jr came from his 17th starting spot to come home third.

Finally, the night was capped off with a first career win for Austin Seets. The regular at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO came to Farmer City for the first time. He found instant success with a heat win and then running away in the feature event. He and his crew were excited in victory lane.

The season continues this Friday night April 22nd with a full program plus the Hornets join in on the fun to start their 2022 season. Gates open at 4pm with hotlaps slated for 6:30pm. All the information can be found on our Facebook page and www.farmercityracing.com. #FridayNightLights
